My own

My view is clouded

I can’t seem to distinguish

Between reality and a delusion

How I wish my reality was a delusion

My view is clouded

My heart weeps for the past

I am my own rock theses days

I am all I have left

In my weakness I remember

All the lessons of the past

In my clouded view I search for laughter

I search high and low for a glimpse of hope

My view might be hazy

My heart might be broken

But I am my own rock

For better or worse

Shadows and light

A snap of the lens is all it takes

every curve, every wrinkle even the twinkle in your eyes come to life

you look radiant and full of life

with your multitude of colors and beaming light

the wall behind you shows the truth

the distorted view that is you

while still beautiful with all its light

the underneath shadows are unbecoming of you

wishing one day that empty space will fill

where the light meets the shadow and it all becomes real

the breath I hold will never suffice

since that day will never appear

all that will be is the empty patterns on the wall

which will just have to suffice

Living for the sake of living is not enough

Watching these kids grow before my eyes

From taking their first steps;

To attending universities

Can you see these gray hairs on my head?

Life has been passing me by

I’ve been too busy with my head in the clouds

Not noticing life is leaving me behind

Here I am working hard

For what?

Do I love what I do?

 No, I do not.

I dream of grand things

I dream of plane rides to different cities every night

Dreaming of helping people just like me

People with these incredible dreams

This life we were given is not a waste

Don’t live just too live

Enjoy the air we breathe, every single day

Enjoy the soil between your toes

Remind yourself that you are worth it

Remind yourself you are talented enough

Remind yourself that you deserve whatever

Your heart desires and go for it

Let us stop being a statue in our own life
