Saddest truth

We went from laughing our heads off

To avoiding each other

From hot days in your pick-up

to standing alone at the bus stop

From hospital beds to funeral homes

the storms rolled into your life

standing by your side no matter what you had said

Always believing the lies by choice

We were friends I thought

Now I understand

you cannot be a friend

you are only capable of giving

the illusion of friendship

the saddest truth is that you don’t even realize it
